INTRODUCTION

Tanzania International Arbitration Center [TIAC]

TIAC is a company limited by guarantee established to provide alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services, which include international and domestic commercial arbitration, adjudication, mediation and conciliation and is operationally independent from the Government by maintaining a high-quality panel of arbitrators and mediators, who are known for their integrity, impartiality and expertise for effective resolution of disputes outside court.

TIAC operates with the support of an Advisory Board, a Board of Directors, and a Secretariat, and draws on the established legal framework for international arbitration in Tanzania.

Our Model Arbitration Clause


“Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of, relating to or in connection with this contract, including any question regarding its existence, validity or termination, shall be resolved by arbitration in accordance with the TANZANIA INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CENTRE (TIAC) Arbitration Rules. The seat of arbitration shall be Dar es Salaam, Tanzania [or choose another city]. The language of the arbitration shall be [or choose another language]. The number of arbitrators shall be one [or three, or delete this sentence and rely on Article 8 of the TANZANIA INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CENTRE (TIAC) Arbitration Rules]”.
